Biography
Beloved Grandchild Pastel 11” x 14"
Biography Jane moved from New York to Calgary in 1953. After sketching and drawing for a few years, she studied under Dick van dan Hoogan and Jean Geddes. She also attended workshops of Debbie Sinclair and portrait classes of Jeanette McClelland Brookes. During this time she also studied at the Art Institute in San Miguel de Allende in Mexico and later at the College of Art in Calgary.  She then joined the Calgary Sketch Club and Federation of Canadian Artists, and found the pleasures of painting well known scenes in Alberta, from the mountains to the countryside on the prairies. She started out painting in oils and branched out into watercolour. Then she became fascinated with portraits done in pastel and now is a member of the Canadian Institute of Portrait Artists. She has paintings in corporate offices in Eastern and Western Canada and in many private collections. She also is teaching at the Family Leisure Centre and marketing greeting cards made from some other paintings.
