Biography Dr. Jamieson began sketching and painting as a teenager and has continued without pause throughout careers as a soldier and physician. Due to his military and medical obligations, he has never been an art college student, but has attended many workshops conducted by eminent painters in Canada and abroad. His first love in painting is portraiture, closely followed by figurative work. Most of his work is commissioned and is found in many private and corporate collections as well those of various Canadian Army regiments and regimental associations. Over three dozen of his drawings and paintings are in the collection of the Canadian War Museum. While serving with the Canadian Armed Forces as a military doctor, he was commissioned on several occasions to paint the soldiers serving in Egypt, Israel, Syria and Cyprus with the United Nations. In 1990 he was honoured with a commission from the King's Own Calgary Regiment to paint a work for presentation to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. A member of the Calgary Sketch Club since 1985, he has participated in dozens of their shows and exhibitions, winning prizes from time to time. A member of the Pastel Society of Canada since its inception, he was recognized as a Premier Pastellist of Canada (PPC) in 1996. Dr. Jamieson is also a signature, senior, member of the Canadian Institute of Portrait Artists (CIPA) and is a member of the Alberta Society of Artists (ASA) where he served as President for several years. He is also a former member of the Federation of Canadian Artists at the Associate signature level (ACIPA). Dr. Jamieson's works have appeared in print in the 1999 book, "The Best of Canadian Pastels", in "We Stand on Guard - An Illustrated History of The Canadian Army" (1992), "Alberta Society of Artists - The First Seventy Years" (2000), and in two issues of International Artists Magazine in 2000.
